“A Survey on Belief Propagation Decoding of Polar Codes” study, written by Dr. A. Çağrı ARLI, Team Leader at ElectraIC and Dr. Orhan GAZİ, Associate Professor in Çankaya University has been published in China Communications Journal (Volume:18, Issue:8, Aug.2021).
With the use of Polar codes for 5g Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), work has been focused on increasing the performance of decoders in terms of throughput, frame error rate, and complexity. In this context, the number of studies suggesting that polar codes should be decoded with a parallel logic like LDPC codes, with the Belief Propagation (BP) algorithm has also increased. In their study, the authors collected all the studies in the literature on decoding polar codes with the BP algorithm, classified them and presented detailed comparisons. Decoding Polar codes with BP algorithm with high error correction rates will contribute to the progress of 5G & 6G studies.
